Studies show that people understand images faster than words and remember them longer. Our brains prioritize visual information over any other kind, which makes images the fast-track to connection all marketers are looking for, but the images you put up onto social media still need to have a strategy behind them. You don’t want to be putting text on an image and call it a day. Here’s how you can use images for your social media effectively.
Here’s example number one. The text is present, there is a background, and the text is different colors. This image is only hinting at the deeper meaning. Instead try a different image like this one:
Here, in the image, you are escaping. You’re going to a different place, a field, a meadow, outside of the rest of the world, you’ve found somewhere that can be sanctuary. This image is much more effective than the first for those reasons. It puts the viewer in a different place.
Example number two:
See how this image sends a message? It doesn’t get more personal than kissing. Always remember your strategy and your brand as well as what you’re really trying to say and then convey that with an image.
This image works much better because it’s feminine and matches the theme of the store. Let’s say for example that Ashley’s boutique is real and her brand colors (aka brand standards) are gold, white and black, so we use those colors in the image. This image is more relevant because it uses the theme colors, while also keeping a feminine font.
